IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

General Health & Safety Information is provided below for guidance, it is not intended to replace the need for the operators to read and abide by the Operating Instructions provided with the machine, or replace Health & Safety legislation.

NEVER:

  • attempt to operate machine before carefully reading the following operating instructions.
  • carry out oil level checks on gearbox when machine is cold before starting work.
  • operate machine with safety guards or covers removed.
  • carry out any repairs or servicing before machine is shut down with motor stopped, gas turned off at the cylinder and machine allowed to go cold.
  • leave the machine unattended when in use under any circumstances.
  • only lift de-mountable machines when empty.
  • lift de-mountable machines with undercarriage attached.
  • attempt to fill oil level while machine is running.
  • add material if the agitator is moving, the agitator should always be stopped in the centre of the pan i.e vertical to the shaft, once material is added close the lids and re-engage stirrer.
  • under any circumstances be left unattended when being used.
  • drop items such as scrapers, trowels and/or re-bar into the machine, these items are will jam the agitator and burn out the electric motor/gearbox.

ALWAYS:

  • check power connection lead for damage and wear.
  • carry out lubrications and service checks at the same time, using correct lubrications.
  • carry out oil level checks on gearbox when machine is cold before starting work.
  • ensure the mixer contains enough molten Hot Melt material to cover the Thermostat Capillary sensor tube to avoid overheating. Overheating could cause the molten Hot Melt material to flash and catch alight.
  • shut down the mixer when faults are discovered.
  • report faults to the person directly responsible, and do not operate the machine until faults have been corrected.
  • We recommend that Hot Melt operatives are retrained at least once every 24 months to ensure that knowledge acquired on the correct use and operation of Hot Melt cookers is maintained.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  1. Equipment should only be used by a trained certified operative.
  2. Lids must be closed at all times whilst paddle(s) are engaged.
  3. Protective clothing and full face mask should always be worn when operating or loading material.
  4. Never leave equipment unattended when alight or running.
  5. If a fault occurs, shut down the equipment immediately and report fault to the person directly responsible.
  6. Always tum engine/burners off, and where applicable allow cooling before maintenance or repairs are carried out. Remove external power sources (where applicable).
  7. When the machine is being used where the general public may come into contact ‘HOT SURFACE’ warning signs should be posted on or around the machine and the machine enclosed with protective fencing.
  8. Important (de-mountable machines only), machine must only be lifted empty and never with the undercarriage attached.
  9. All machines are fitted with tested lifting eyes; this does not mean the machine has been test lifted. If you require your machine to be test lifted prior to delivery, this must be indicated on your paperwork as this constitutes an extra cost. (Many sites require test lift certified documentation).

Lastly, but not least, always remember that safety is the responsibility of everyone, never do anything that is likely to put yourself or anybody else at risk.
